Description of Assignment:  The purpose of this assignment was create a rules and regulations for students when using the internet as well as a method for notifying parents about internet usage.  This assignment focuses on the important role the teacher must play with regard to internet safety.  The responsibilities associated with the role of a teacher in relation to the internet is to develop acceptable and unacceptable uses of the internet, consequences for breaking the rules, and a contract for students to sign.  In this assignment, the responsibilities of parents and students are outlined in addition to the role of the teacher, thus showing how usage of the internet involves the cooperation of three parties.  This illustration develops includes such components designed specifically for an Honors Sociology course.
Rationale (Why you chose to use this as an illustration and how it is an example of the Accomplished Practice:  I chose to incorporate this illustration because I felt it is an area often overlooked by educators.  Although there are several responsibilities one takes on when fulfilling the role of a teacher must play, one of the most important duties involves developing guidelines for students to follow when using technology, more specifically, the internet.  If the teacher should fail to meet the expectations of this role unforeseen problems may occur during the process of learning for students, teachers, and parents.  In order to prevent problems an internet safety plan is needed before students even begin using the internet.
